Another oldie.. though less old than the last one. This was my story for Nobodies vol 2. It’s an homage to the dystopian science fiction I enjoyed in high school combined with a couple more personal things.
(Sorry for the tiny text. I had just learned illustrator and thought the tiny text looked better? Blah.)
Nobodies vol 2 can be purchased a the link below. I recommend it! There are some really great stories in there by really great creators.
And thank you to Victor Ochoa for designing the logo up top and organizing the anthology. Wouldn’t have done this story without him.

Here’s an oldie rendered nostalgic by Damian’s death and Dick’s abandonment of the whole Batman thing. This was a short I drew in between creator owned things as a way to let off some fanboy steam and play make-believe at writing/drawing Batman for DC. I’ve since resolved to only draw creator owned shorts when I have similar short-comic-making urges, but I enjoy how this thing turned out for what it was.

A day late due to busy schedules prepping for ECCC, but worth the wait!

Want to know what heartthrobs JD Smith and Mat Heagerty think about Just Another Sheep ? Then check out this sweet interview they did with a site called Nerdspan.
If by “heart throbs” you mean that time I accidentally gave my grandma a heart attack, then yes!
Anyway, me and Mat did this interview. Interviews make me feel fancy! No, I’m kidding, they make me feel pretentious and awkward. But it’s still neat.

Tonight at Midnight on JUST ANOTHER SHEEP: Hungover and hazy the gang gets ready to storm the White House!
It’s Mat’s birthday! Celebrate by giving us money (or just reading. I don’t care!)

Illustrator is hard.
I’ve gotten tired of my art being brought down by (my own) poor lettering, so I figured I’d finally knuckle down and learn the program in a marathon lettering session. I’m finishing up the letters on San Han 1 today, having finished up the tones earlier in the week. Ideally that means I’ll have issue 1 available in print at the same time the site launches, which would be cool.

BAM! those “finished tones” I was talking about. I did 3 pages tonight, and I aim to do another 3 tomorrow…then when a batch is in the all-clear, I letter. That means we’re getting close to launch and everybody can finally read the damn thing. Here we go. Spread the word.
When I have the cash to launch it, jdmakescomics.com ‘ll be the place.
“When I have the cash.”
